New Ways to Fix the Toilet

Your toilet can be a nightmare if you are constantly battling with a clog that won't go away. Between the wasted water and messes on the floor your home can become unsanitary and frustrating fast. There are, however, many different ways to get rid of a clog without having to call in a plumber.

One simple and common way is to use a plunger. This is great for a quick fix and simple to do. Make sure you don't flush the toilet more than once as this will cause the clog to get worse. When you notice the toilet won't flush grab the plunger and place it over the hole. Press up and down on the plunger a few times until the clog disappears.

Another easy way to get rid of the clog if you don't have a plunger around is to add a few drops of dish soap to the clogged toilet. Then you will want to spread out newspapers or old towels that can prevent the polluted water from getting on your floor. Once you've prepped for this bring a pot of warm tap water to the restroom and from waist level dump it into the toilet. The force will help get rid of the clog and flush the toilet for you.

If neither of these methods work for you then take apart an old wire coat hanger. Wrap one end of the hanger with an old rag to help prevent damage to your porcelain. Carefully  push the rag end of the hanger down the toilet and move it around in a circular motion, this will help clear the clog and clear out anything that might cause further problems.

You don't have to be afraid when your toilet clogs up. These easy fixes can be done in the home without spending a lot of money. Now, when the toilet clogs you will know exactly what to do when your toilet fails to flush.

Makeover Your Home in a Jiffy

A lot of people look for ways to get rid of their old boring looks while working with a budget. Putting up wallpaper is a great way to transform your home into a well decorated room you will love spending time in. Of course, installing wallpaper can be tough if you don't know what you're doing!

In order to get wallpaper up and looking great you need to wash down your walls first and remove any previous layers of wallpaper that might be up. This will give you a smooth look that will make your wallpaper look professionally installed. Once you've wiped down the walls you'll want to gather up a bucket of warm water and sponge to help you activate the adhesive of your wallpaper.

Before you go any further it is best to measure out and precut your wallpaper into strips so you can easily install without having to constantly stop. Once you have the correct strips then you will want to place your first strip into the warm water. When you pull it out of the water fold the paper in half with the design on the outside and make sure not to crease the paper. This will help to activate the adhesive, so you can keep your new wallpaper looking great for years.

After the adhesive is ready to go place the first strip on the wall and make sure to line it up with the correct points so you will have a flawless look you'll love. When you have the first piece up then you should smooth out the edges and make sure there are no air bubbles. One great way to do this is to use the sponge you already have out to wipe down the walls.

The first piece is always the hardest to get up, but once you have it settled in then you can start adding the other pieces. The trick is to place them as close together as possible so there is no holes in your amazing new design. When you have all of the pieces up and smoothed out then you can trim up and edges you might have with the a box cutter or other crafting night.

Once you have finished it is important to stand back and take in the room you've just created. This step can be the most rewarding and will give you a boost of confidence, but you took on a challenge without having to hire a professional!
